Fundraising!

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Just to draw attention to the Fundraising we have to do as we only have three weeks left till the event, each team has pledged to raise £2000 for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust - that’s £500 per team member! Here’s our fundraising totals so far:

We need your help to reach our targets, so please sponsor us through JustGiving. Links to all our team pages are below:

Ystradfellte (waterfalls)

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

The second team walk in the Brecons, and it was a good ‘un. After a big day on the hills on Saturday and with the threat of driving home looming large, we decided to go for a short ’sightseeing’-type walk. We chose to head for Ystradfellte to take in a few of the waterfalls. It was a superb, sunny day and it was an absolute stunner. Wel worth a look if you’re ever around there.

Fan Y Big

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Ah, the Welsh hills! What a lovely walk this was - seven of the twelve walkers all walking together, hitting some 2000 ft peaks, enjoying the scenery and making the most of the mostly-good weather. Fantastic.

Poker game turns into fundraiser

Friday, March 13th, 2009

When Matthew said he had a day off, our minds immediately turned to Poker. Now whilst it wasn’t declared at the start of the game, the winner couldn’t accept the money whilst his teams just giving page stood at £0.

So congratulations to… Me! Team Partly Ramblomatic have started their fundraising!

Hassocks to Brighton (CP8 to CP11)

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

There’s only one way to know what you’ve got to do. And that’s to do it. Only a fraction of Ramblomatic could make it, but nevertheless, Ben, Ian and Olly set off to start from Hassocks Station to Brighton Station. With only a bad sense of direction from Ben and a map from Olly, they set off to reinact the hardest section of the Trailwalker.

Route: Hassocks to Brighton (CP8 to CP11)
Walkers: Ben, Ian & Olly
Date: 28/02/08
Distance: 30km/18.4 miles (approx.)
Time: 6h 23m
Average speed: 4.7kmph/2.9mph

Wimbledon to Richmond and back.

Monday, February 16th, 2009

Possibly the most official Ramblomatic walk since members from all three teams were included. Ben, Elisabel, Hak, Sam and Zoe started on an epic journey to travel from Wimbledon Station, round Richmond park, round the Lake in the park and back to the flat. With only two stops and good time being made

Route: Wimbledon to Richmond and back.
Walkers: Ben, Elisabel, Hak, Sam & Zoe
Date: 15/02/08
Distance: 26km/16.2 miles (approx.)
Time: 6h 40m
Average speed: 3.8kmph/2.4mph

That’s about it for dev day

Friday, January 23rd, 2009

Sigh. Just past midnight, but we’ve managed to set up:

  • A shared calendar (walkers - get a GMail account and you can update the calendar)
  • A photo gallery (walkers - get a Yahoo account and you can update the gallery)
  • A blog (walkers - we’ll send you logins)
  • Comments (please post - we need traffic :)
  • Weird team email addresses - you’ll probably have already been spam’d to death by them :)

A fair evening’s work. Still got to work on the styling and get a bit more content in and add a few custom plugins and introduce analytics and justgiving pages, but we’re part way there.

Goodnight, all…

Ramblomatic.net goes live!

Thursday, January 22nd, 2009

Hurrah! Through literally hours (well, an hour and a half) of hard graft, we’ve finally managed to get a site live on ramblomatic.net. Now we just have to make it look good, tie in the calendar, get photos into it somehow… oh yeah - the long difficult bit after the easy first setup. Watch this space!
